UC Admissions

 

 

•The UC system prefers students to submit applications online.

 

•Transcripts nor AP scores are not required at the time of application.

 

•The UC system does not require Letters of Recommendation, Secondary School Reports, Counselor Reports, or Mid-Year Reports. If you try to send them recommendations or other supplementary information they will be shredded.

 

•The UC system requires that students send their SAT and/or ACT scores to them directly from the College Board or American College Testing Inc.

 

•The UC system DOES require an essay known as the Personal Statement.

 

•November 1st to November 30th is the window for submitting applications to a UC.

 

Minimum UC Eligibility Requirements (a-g courses)

a. World History (1 year) and U.S. History/Government (1 year)
b. English (4 years)

c. Mathematics: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II (3 years); 4th year recommended
d. Laboratory Science (2 years): A year-long course in two Lab disciplines such as Biology, Chemistry or Physics; 3rd year recommended.
e. Foreign Language (same language 2 years); 3rd year recommended
f. Visual and Performing Arts (1 year)
g. College Preparatory Electives (1 year)

 

Test Requirements
*One assessment test - either the SAT Reasoning Test or the ACT plus Writing Assessment Test AND
*Two SAT Subject Tests in two different subject areas such as:  history/social science, English literature, laboratory science, foreign language, or math level 2.

 

How to Apply to a UC

 

1.    The UC online application is available here.

 

•    The UC application filing period is November 1-30, but you may begin working on your application beginning October 1.
•    The UC application fee is $60.00 per campus.
•    UC application workshops will be held in November. TBA

2.    Make sure you complete the 2010-2011 admissions application because this is the year you will be going to college.

 

3.    Always print a copy of everything you submit online.

 

4.    Obtain a certificate of mailing (not certified) for any applications or documents you mail through the post office. Don't send anything in such a way that the college has to sign for it (such as certified).

 

5.    UC applications do not require letters of recommendation or transcripts.

 

6.    It is the student's responsibility to submit a FINAL transcript request to our school registrar in June.

 

7.    UC entrance exam requirements are SAT Reasoning or ACT Plus Writing AND Two SAT Subject Tests.

•    SAT Reasoning Test: October 10, November 7, and December 5
•    Cost: $45
•    SAT Subject Test: October 10, November 7, and December 5
•    Cost: $50-$60 for 2 tests

 

Register for the ACT online
•    ACT Test Plus Writing: September 13, October 25, December 13
•    Cost: $47
